The textbook is designed for foreign students learning Russian at B1 of the CEFR and above, and is intended for a self study and for classroom studies with a teacher.

The book helps to develop communicative competence of foreign students focusing on their listening and speaking skills. It practices students abilities to interpret spoken Russian and contributes to the quick and easy linguistic adaptation in the Russian language environment.

The materials provided in the book include authentic texts that can be heard in a modern city (on a tube, in a shop, at a railway station). They also include the samples of the dialogues that as close as possible reflect the real students' situations (at a university, in a dormitory, in a hospital, etc.)

The system of exercises provided before and after the texts is designed to facilitate the phonetic, lexical and grammar difficulties while listening to unadapted texts as well as to develop students' speaking skills. The book comes with a CD and an answer key.
