Su primera novela fue Alice (1949), que tuvo muy Buena acogida. Siguieron Henry (1950), Mrs Martell (1953), Starter’s Orders (1955) y Cecil (1961), que fue la última. Escribió también Portrait of a Sport: A History of Steeplechasing (1957) y una crónica sobre matrimonios prominentes entre americanos ricos y europeas con título, Heiresses and Coronets (1960), también conocida como They All Married Well, que fue un gran éxito en Gran Bretana y en Estados Unidos. Murió en Nueva York en 1991.
