Este primer volumen comienza con el aprendizaje del Hangul o alfabeto coreano y continúa con 59 lecciones en las que se enseñan los principales contenidos de gramática de nivel inicial: los números, los verbos, las partículas etc. Al tratarse de un libro cuyo énfasis principal está en las habilidades comunicativas, en las explicaciones de gramática se especifican las conjugaciones formal e informal y también la forma correcta de hablar y comunicarse. Todas las explicaciones contienen un gran número de ejemplos que aparecen escritos en coreano con su respectiva traducción. En cada ejemplo se resalta en tinta roja cada uso gramatical. 

Una vez estudiado cada punto gramatical, se ofrecen ejercicios con los que practicar. Todas las soluciones se pueden encontrar al final del libro. El libro presente diferentes clases de ejercicios, lo que ayuda a practicar la gramática desde diferentes metodologías.
