E. J. En una mezcla insólita de libro de viajes, estudio psicológico, biografía de artista e historia épica, estas memorias son tanto un vivo documento como un original empeño de creación literaria.Edward John Trelawny nació en 1792. En 1822, en Pisa, Thomas Medwin le presentó a Shelley, y este a Byron: de su relación con ellos, y en su calidad de privilegiado testigo de las circunstancias de la muerte de ambos, dio cuenta en Memorias de los últimos días de Byron y Shelley (1858), que revisaría y aumentaría en 1878 en Records of Shelley, Byron and the Author. Murió en Sompting en 1881, pero sus restos fueron llevados a Roma y enterrados junto a los de Shelley.
