Pocket History of Catalonia is an enjoyable book which rigorously explains Catalonia’s history - from prehistory to the referendum of 1st of October 2017. It is a mosaic of more than 100 topics written for everyone. 

The chapters are presented chronologically but, at the same time, are independent and can be read in any order. The reader is free to jump in at any given point or navigate through time – leaping from the Arabs of the 8th century to the Almogavars of the 14th or the War of Succession of the 18th.

Oriol Andrés Casamiquela was born in Barcelona in 1965. He graduated in Catalan Philology and was a lecturer in History of the Catalan Language at the University of Barcelona. Now he has left teaching and has been working for years as IT manager both in private companies and for the Government. He writes also in the weblog Bloc de meravelles (Blog of Wonders) blocdemeravelles.blogspot.com and in the Twitter account @oriolanix. Interested in language, politics and history of Catalonia and of the rest of the world, Pocket History of Catalonia is his first book.
