En la tradición judía, el Gólem es un humanoide de barro dotado de vida y de ciertos poderes sobrehumanos, creado por un rabino al servicio de su comunidad. Su figura desconcertante ilustraba el poder creador del hombre, a semejanza de Dios. La reflexión judía sobre el gólem anticipa algunos debates actuales sobre la inteligencia artificial, una tecnología que se extiende en todos los ámbitos de nuestra vida. Contando con ella y con otras tecnociencias, el transhumanismo aspira a rediseñar la naturaleza humana y dirigir la evolución de nuestra especie.
