The textbook is designed for foreign students learning Russian at B2 of the CEFR, and is intended for a self study and for classroom studies with a teacher.

The book helps to develop communicative competence of foreign students focusing on their listening and speaking skills. It practices students abilities to interpret spoken Russian and contributes to the quick and easy linguistic adaptation in the Russian language environment.

The system of exercises is designed to facilitate the phonetic difficulties while listening to the "reduced" sounds in Russian. It also teaches students to listen and to understand the words and phrases that express estimation, and to recognise the intentions, particles and lexicon specific to the spontaneous informal speech.

The book provides text assignments on spoken Russian to test the students' understanding of the covered material. It comes with a CD and an answer key.
