El programa kora, comisionada por la profesora roca de la villa y dedicado a las artistas españolas actuales, cumpla su tercera edición con esta muestra de la pintora asturiana chechu clave. En el centro está de nuevo la mujer como creadora y la urgencia de vencer la resistencia del Museo como institución patriarcal. Esta vez el medio es la pintura, en el que Álava nos presenta una extraordinaria galería de personajes femeninos, casi siempre artistas y escritoras unidas por la insumisión, más las mitológicas Venus y Eva, tratadas con deliciosa ironía. Cada una de estas figuras es un mundo en sí mismo, y a la vez un fragmento del mundo tan personal de su autora. Como señala la comisaria en el texto de este catálogo, chechu Álava pinta esas figuras "en su característico estilo hiper femenino", que reúne todo aquello que la crítica misógina desdeñó siempre en la pintura realizada por mujeres (el formato pequeño, los colores pastel, la atmósfera íntima...) y lo convierte en algo fascinante. Parece increíble que una pintura de medios tan poco ostentosos, tan suave y delicada, pueda transmitir tanta intensidad: ansiedad, dolor, resolución, energía.

This exhibition of the work of Asturian painter Chechu Álava­ va is the third to be staged as part of Kora, a programme cu­rated by university lecturer Rocío de la Villa and focusing on Spanish women artists of today. Like the previous shows, it is centred on women as creators and on the urgent need to overcome the resistance of museums as patriarchal ins­ titutions. This time the medium is painting and Álava pre­ sents us with an extraordinary picture gallery of women - nearly all of them artists and writers who share the trait of rebelliousness - together with the mythological Venus and Eve, handled with a delightful irony. Each of these figures is a world in itself and, at the same time, a fragment of the painter's own, highly personal world. As the curator points out in her essay in this catalogue, Chechu Álava paints the­ se figures 'in her characteristic hyperfeminine style', which brings together everything that misogynous critics have always scorned in paintings produced by women (a small format, pastel colours, an intimate atmosphere...) and turns it into something fascinating. lt seems incredible that pain­ tings that are so unshowy, so gentle and delicate, can con­ vey such intensity: anxiety, sorrow, resoluteness, energy.
